The Kershaw Piston model 1860 is a larger sized knife but does not weigh more because the stainless steel liners are removed. Since the entire handle is made of G10, enough strength exists in the handle to remove the liners. Then to keep the liner lock functionality, a small stainless steel piece was installed into the handle. This moves behind the blade to keep it open tight when in use.
