There is a video on this page showing us replacing the torsion bar on a Kershaw Leek. This task is best completed by using the Kershaw T-Tool.

Kershaw LEEKTORSIONBAR video transcript:

Did you break the torsion bar in your Kershaw Leek? Well, to fix that, you're going to need a torsion bar vertical shawl leak and you're going to need the Kershaw tea tool and a couple of its bits that are included with the tool. And to do that you're going to have to open a knife like this, remove this four screws that are in the handle. Three of the screws use this smaller bit, the screw in the hands uses the larger bit. Okay, so I've got my screws out of the knife here and what you want to do is carefully disassemble enough there's going to be some pieces in here so you're gonna assemble it uh disassemble it very carefully and don't lose any of the pieces. Inside the front side of the handle is where you're probably gonna find your broken torsion bar you're missing torsion bar or whatever whatever it is that's causing the problem with the torso. So what we need to do is put the new torsion bar in so I'm going to remove that piece, I'm going to lay the new torsion bar in there like so and I'm gonna put the cover back on being sure to make sure that that torsion bar aligns into that little slot right there which now I have it see it go back and forth right there that's what keeps the uh this one makes it work. Okay so then I'm gonna take the spacer and make sure it lines up on the torsion bar and I'm gonna take my three small screws and I'm gonna pin them through that spacer and handle right there so it kind of holds everything together right there. So got that little part I said well I'm gonna put it to the side here like this and then I'm gonna check out the other side of the knife here and I inspect my lock, my blade locks looking good. Uh this blade has two copper washers, you're going to want to make sure that you have one copper washer on the back side of the blade and the other copper washer on the front side of the blade. All right see that right there. So my pan here, put my copper washer on, throw my blade on here, put my other copper washer on. All right so now I've got that side of the knife assembled. All right then I'm going to take my piece right here, I'm going to lay it and align it with the screw holes. Can be a little bit of a tedious process here especially when you're trying to do it in front of a camera not exactly my posture that I keep there we go. All right so I've got the screws lined up. All right all right all right just kind of get them started here just that way have it held together but not go all the way I'm just gonna start it. All right then I want you to notice something that little gap right here that's because it hasn't caught the torsion ball hasn't caught in the blade yet so what I'm going to do is carefully close the blade and I felt it catch whenever I was closing it. All right so now the torsion ball has a hold of the blade I'm going to go ahead and tighten these down just a little bit more but not too tight. These four screws actually the speed of the torsion the speed of the assisted opening rather sorry. Okay. All right got it no blade slack closed I'm a little too tight let me back off that a little bit and then I'm going to back off these other screws just a little bit. Nice and quick no blade play we have replaced.
